The Search for DVDs

DVDs?  I really don't get the facination with having such big collections but I still buy them once every now and then.  Yet everyone I seem to come across lately seems to want to purchase a big bunch with all the stocktake sales down here.

I dunno I would never get the time to watch the 400 or so DVDs they seem to have at home.  I am happy just to keep the ones I like as they support the publisher that made them and I get to watch those that I love over and over again.

Still my tastes have been changing over the last couple of years and I am happy with less or more simple so I must be getting old or something lol.

Watched this movie that was recommended to me the other day, "Boys Don't Cry" about some identity confused lesbians which was really harsh but didn't leave me as impressed as I thought I was going to be by the recommendation (esspecially since it was supposed to be guys anyway).

Have seen several in this mood lately so am looking forward to watching a movie like Mr. and Mrs. Smith before its gone out of the cinema or something on my Bday, maybe some dinner too.

Bye, blog you next time.

WoW to EB and the End Of Financial Year Sales

Recently they opened serveral new stores in the city as leases finished on cirtain shop fronts, one of which was next to town hall.  An EB-Games outlet; now until recently I have done my shopping online since i get a 15% discount and the US doesn't have GST, just $30 postage & Handling which works out alright if you buy like three or four items.

This new outlet opening at the end of the FY is just ripe for a stock clearance of 40-60% of heeps of stuff so me and Ken "pigged out" so to speak.  I bought 3 new games, Morrowind GOY ed., World of Warcraft stuff, Ever Quest 2.  I wanted to get Guild Wars as well but didn't want to pay $71 for another game that I had to play.  There ones are too many as it is and I have to pay subscription fees as well. (Not to mention in game rent)

Am very satisfied though and Ken bought a couple of X-Box controllers and games too, Dead or Alive is still his; and most other people that come over and play; favorite game and I agree that you really don't get sick of it.

Anyway don't know where I will get the time to play these things but am glad I bought them which feels a bit ironic.

Cheers, blog you all soon.

Rowling Rolls On

Hi all,

Well I purchased the adult edition of Harry Potter to see what the difference will be in the whole edition re-write.  But still want to read over the last two before I read this one so that it is fresh in my mind as I enjoyed the books much better then the movie.

Perhaps my imagination or the poetic license to the textual imagery.

Will let you know if it is as cliff hanging as the last one, or just another train ride.

On to the next blog...

Today's Impressions

Well it rained incesantly today which didn't help things but most jobs kept me busy today.

There was yet another accident on the Hi-Way on Lane Cove Road which took out a fair portion of the fence at the shopping centre which did not fair well in the wet weather, and then another one in the same spot in the evening with two other cars hitting each other.  Doesn't anybody be cautious in wet weather *sigh*

Anyway there were lots of people out and about today and everyone was rushing like there is no tomorrow; always makes me wonder why that happens when it rains; there were a lot of mishaps at Optus today with some Telstra purchase which made my job both interesting and busy.

Michael got his new Nokia phone and took my picture for his address book - I wish he would tell people in advance b4 snapping them so quickly.  Looked like a nice phone - I will look into getting the same one for myself since my phone has really really had it.

Still ended up doing more work at home with FMC since there servers are a rather lot messy.  But I enojoy it most of the time and have like 30 or more windows that I am working in at once most of the time so doesn't phase me atm.

Bought a new router for the network since the existing one is rather f*#&ed and needs to be replaced by something that works as it is becomming a hassle.

Couldn't get much washing done the last week as it keeps raining but will persavere tomorrow morning.

Hmm I think I have ranted enough now so will see you all next time I write.

LAUNCHcast

If anybody has the opportunity they should check out LAUNCHcast on Yahoo Messenger it is really worthwhile for a decent selection of songs personally selected in sort of a radio fasion.

Cheers.

The Exodus

Currently my main subscription has been to EvE Online as I am a bit of a Sci-Fi affectionardo and this game has its own community and ecconomy; there are an average of 10000 people on at any one time from the Iceland to Australia and the UK; so many diverse people.

There are a lot of Corporations as they call it in this MMORPG which have over 1000 members which can be affiliated with and so many different roles and classes that you can try so that an individual aspect becomes apperhent in your charaters or the opposite.

Great way to spend idol CPU cycles anyway since this engine is capable of switching windows like it isn't even running.  Talk to three people most times that I am on who are using it at work?!?

Anyway if you want something constructive to use CPU cycles on - try World Community Grid run by IBM and other multinational companies to try and decypher the human proteome functions of the body and which genes they are corresponding too.  http://worldcommunitygrid.org/

Ok well enough of that I want to go to bed and will blog you all another time.

Bye bye now.

Favorites and the Food Chain

I have been thinking about genetically altered food a few times recently, like Canolla Oil for instance; Butter/Marge can give you so many health side effects and problems as it is, without making it worse by altering its DNA.

What about them not telling people about it in an obvious way like on cigarettes "SMOKING CAUSES CANCER" and others to that effect - Why not "BUTTER CAUSES BLINDNESS" I mean people might take notice of stuff like that - if not at least fore warned.

Or for that matter eggs can cause heart disease so why not "CHICKENS CAN KILL YOU" or something amuseing :P

Ok that was a ramble and a half; this message brought to you by Ceasar Salads and other Produce

(Reminder: Do not drivel at hours after the stroke of midnight as this will cause side effects.)
